a darkness calls
spreading rootlets,  catching me
in boughs swaying to winds a distant cry,
lullabye song,
far off where city lights
lie beside ocean edge,
where below many creatures hybrid
in darkness mingle one into another,
I plunge my hand,  scoop water phosphorescence
tumbling earthward   my shadow falling.

gate broken,
dawn head raised
splits earth   sky light
penetrating,
granting all
dark company.
